virtualvoyages: an old worn book on a black back ground, a glow at one corner of the book (Default)

I started this blog as a place to babble about MMOs and write journal entries in character as various MMO characters I had.  Then I bought SW:TOR and things took a left turn (or is it a right?) at Albuquerque and there was suddenly actual fan fic.  (Which I am supposed to be writing.  Like right now.  Since it's been over a week since I posted part two.  I suck.)

Um, how does one get an entry out of this question?  I suppose my reasons for starting this blog were just too straightforward and easily summarized.

So, um... How about them...are there sports teams in the Star Wars Universe?  There must be.  I don't know the names of any.  Nevermind.  I have been trying to sort out the timeline around SW:TOR, and the ages of various companion characters.  (Because I am easily distracted by missing information.  I don't know if that makes me research inclined or just prone to "Oooh, shiny!")  End result: I can't figure out most companion characters' ages.  Though Corso is 19 (two dialogues plus math = 19).  At least I finally know when the Treaty of Coruscant is in comparison to when the game is taking place.  And nailed down how old my characters are.  And that was completely off topic.

Going to go write fan fic now.  *looks at clock*  Oh, who needs eight hours of sleep.  *goes to work on fan fic anyway*

I'm so glad you're sticking to this! And don't be down on yourself for not finishing something as soon as possible, or not posting regularly -- the whole point of these things is to have fun, right?

Also: wat, Corso is 19?!

... that explains a lot, actually.

There are almost certainly professional sports in the SWTOR universe, but what I want to know is whether they're allowed to use the Force in-game. Either way it's interesting - if they can, that gives teams with Force-users an advantage, which means every team that wants to win is going to heavily recruit players strong with the Force; if they can't, there's going to need to be a sophisticated monitoring system in place to make sure no unauthorized Force usage affects the game.

I lean towards the former, if only because the latter seems hellaciously hard to enforce, though I suppose a blanket ban on players with an overly high midichlorian count might do it. You'd still have to deal with unscrupulous Jedi/Sith masters reaching out to affect the game for their own reasons, of course, which could play merry hell with the professional sports industry if it became common. ("Welcome back to the 294th annual Tookaball championships! For those of you just tuning in, the Hawkbats pulled ahead when rookie Darlu Seema blasted through the Snowbears' defense to score the first goal of the game, and the question on everyone's mind is: will she live up to the- uh, hang on a minute here, folks. Oooooh, bad news, sports fans. I've just been informed that a Jedi Master and a Sith Lord with a long-running rivalry have decided to turn today's game into a personal competition. Guess we'll just have to wait a little longer to find out what Seema can really do; in the meantime, we'll try to get one or both of our two new 'players' up here for an interview at halftime.")

Oh hey, just noticed SWTOR is having a free play weekend. I forget what server you're on, but if you feel like telling me I'll roll a toon there and say hi.

You could surround the playing field with Ysalamir, I guess?

There's Huttball!

Re: characters' ages. I wish Bioware gave us official stats, because I'm also having a hard time figuring out ages. The Imperial Agent has personal files on his/her crew members which states their ages (or approximated ages), but other than that, yeah there's little canon available.
